History of the AIMS Society

Founded in 1968 as The Firemark Society (FMS), the American Insurance Marketing and Sales (AIMS) Society is an education-driven, national organization that provides training, information and networking services designed to increase the personal and agency sales production of property and casualty insurance agents.  AIMS was the first organization to honor property and casualty agents for sales excellence and to establish the industry's only sales-based insurance designation - Certified Professional Insurance Agent (CPIA).  

The designation isn't all we do. Our goal is to encourage professional development throughout a person's career, so we also offer a variety of education opportunities, events and programs through the membership side of our organization.  We truly believe that agents and insurance professionals can advance further and find greater satisfaction when they stay current and remain connected to the industry and changing market conditions.


Who might want to become a member?

Property/casualty insurance agency owners, producers, support staff and insurance company personnel. In reality, everyone at an agency or insurance company sells-meaning they must understand the client, be able to consistently communicate the brand's strengths and exceed service expectations. We believe anyone who comes in contact with clients or prospects can benefit from joining the AIMS Society. We think we're a particularly good resource for someone just starting their career because we're committed to sharing and collaborating on not only "book smarts," but real-life, practical advice that can really help someone create and excel in the kind of career they want.

On one end of the spectrum, we have members who have absorbed an incredible amount of on-the-job knowledge. At the other end, professionals just beginning their insurance careers bring a unique enthusiasm for innovation and change. Harnessing the positives each career group brings to the table can create a dynamic, energizing environment that benefits all. That's the reason we are working to create a formal coaching program, one that encourages ongoing dialog between participants and ensures the future health of our industry.
